This week I participated in an Open House for the Writing and Study Skills Center. It was a great event there was a pumpkin judging competition, a scary story competition, and a fortune teller. Students came in to learn more about the Writing and Study Skills Center, they also enjoyed popcorn, candy, and pumpkin pie. I enjoyed meeting new students and helping facilitate the event. I felt I was able to make an impact by speaking with students and getting them to come join us. I think it is very important that students know if they need help they can get it, we offer so many wonderful resources.

I also participated in the English Conversation Group meeting this week. The meeting was all about communication. We did so many fun activities together to practice communicating. Many of the students who participate in the English Conversation Group meetings are not native English speakers, the group helps them adjust to the English language. There was one activity that impacted me the most, we were paired up with a partner and had to hold a small talk conversation for 5 minutes. It was a little awkward and harder to do than anticipated. I feel like I was able to help my partner and make an impact on the group by giving students tips to hold conversations.

My classes this week went well. In Spanish I gave a presentation about my family and also learned how to give someone directions in Spanish. My online classes are coming along nicely. My project for my Business Communications class is making great progress, I enjoy working with my team. I am looking forward to finishing the semester strong.
