Over the summer I was able to participate in a few Student Ambassador events before the school year started. I attended the Hazelwood Walk-a-thon, where members of the community gathered for a walk around town, stopping at certain sites and learning the history of the community. I enjoyed meeting members of the Hazelwood community and learning the history of the town.

I also participated in Operation Give back for the Blue Ash school district, the event was so rewarding. I helped fill backpacks with school supplies for children in need. I learned that Operation Give Back also has an event in December, where they help families in need around the holiday season, I would love to participate. It was nice to see community members volunteering their time to help children in need. Operation Give Back is truly an amazing organization.

I helped facilitate the CYC training event. Before the event I had no idea what CYC stood for, I now know that CYC stands for Cincinnati Youth Collaborative. CYC is an amazing organization that provides mentors for incoming college students. I was able to listen to the entire presentation and learn so much about the program. I think it is amazing that college students have a mentor, to help them transition from high school to college.

I helped facilitate the Latinx Welcome Cookout. The cookout was so much fun! I was able to meet new people, play games, and enjoy some delicious food. Many of the students who attended the cookout were new to UC Blue Ash College. The event was a great opportunity to introduce students to one another, and to welcome them to UC Blue Ash. I made some new friends and now when I see them in the hall, I make sure to say hello and see how their classes are going. The event was a new experience for me, because many people knew how to speak Spanish. I am currently learning how to speak Spanish, hopefully soon I will be able to communicate in Spanish.

My first week back at UC Blue Ash was great! I am taking two online classes and two on campus classes. I am enrolled in a five credit hour Spanish class, I am really excited about learning a new language. I am on campus Monday-Friday, my schedule is full with working in the Admissions Office, Student Ambassador responsibilities, and class, but I enjoy every minute of it. I look forward to having a wonderful semester!
